Description:
Stern view of the Great Lakes railroad car ferry Viking I in long term layup at Menominee, Michigan on July 17, 2009. To accommodate railroad tracks and cars a wide beam was necessary which effected the seaworthiness of the vessel. Built in 1925, there are only a few Great Lakes railroad car ferries still in existence and only one operational for passengers only.
