Description:
ST London Tradition hove to in heavy weather off the Frisian coast mid May 1966 when bound for Brunsbuttel.
Around ten in the morning the old man gave up and settled for keeping her head into the wind. We got under way again around one or two in the afternoon. Got some cracking photos before it blew itself out.

To jadran: The Tradition was a tanker when I was on her but the company had all the ST tankers and some of the older motor tankers of a similar size converted to bulk carriers at La Spezia from about 1966 onward. She was rolling both ways but I had wedged myself in a corner out of the weather to get the best photo composition. Thanks for your kind words. I've mostly kept these photos to myself for over forty years and it is nice to find that other people like them as much as I do.

David, was your tanker of a DWT size about 25,000 tons ? She rolled in these heavy seas almost to one side, but did it all successfully for her.
