Passengers. 1780th After rebuilding. 1692nd After rebuilding. The 1130th Cabin Sites. 1780th After rebuilding. 1692nd After rebuilding. The 1130th IMO: the 5384059th Sister Ships. Saturnia. 1926 12 19. Launched. Delivered in December 1928 to Cosulich Line, Italy. 1928 12 19. Resigned Trieste to Patras - Naples and New York on her maiden voyage. 1936 12th The last trip Trieste - Patras - Naples - New York Cosulich Line. The 1937th Sold to Italia Line, Italy. 1941st Rekvirerad by Italian authorities and informed as troop ships. 1942 to 1943. The vessel made three trips between Italy - South Africa. 1943 10th Rekvirerad of U.S. officials and informed as troop ships. 1946 03 29-1946 10 04. Chartered by American Export Lines .. Service between New York - Naples-Alexandria. 1946 11 15. Returned to service of Italia Line, and ship each renovated in the fall. 1947 07th A trip between Genoa - South America. 1947 09 04-1955 09 21st Service between Genoa - Naples - New York. 1955 10 28-1965 04 05. Service between Trieste - Venice - Patras - Naples - Palermo - Gibraltar - Lisbon - Halifax - New York. 1965 04th Sold to Sicula Oceanica SA Palermo, Italy. Some historical background features of CARIBIA ( ex VULCANIA ):
VULCANIA & her sister SATURNIA, Italy, Hull black with white band, 24,700 tons, 600x80 ft. Motor vessel 2 screw; 23 knots. Triestino 1927. 1,300 passengers. 64,000 cf. refr. Trieste - Italian ports - Gibraltar - Lisabon - Halifax - New York. (source: The Dumpy Book of Ships & the Seas; 1958 ) |

| All that I can do is echo the "wow" that is being exclaimed by everyone else. Fabulous to see such a great shot of this fascinating ship. What wouldn't we give for an opportunity to sail on her now?? |

| This really is an amazing shot, haven't seen that many good pics of her as CARIBIA. She must have stood out as a bit of relic even back then. A very nice relic though! |

I saw her ( then being the original VULCANIA ) passing us on route from Otrant to Trieste ( Adriatic Sea ).
She had also a very good "racing" speed; passed us and vanished! |
