Ship's Deck | | Description: | | The photo shows the conversion of the London Prestige to a bulk carrier at La Spezia. The photo was taken from the London Valour on 18th December 1966 as she had berthed alongside to undergo conversion herself. The other berths contained vessels being scrapped. Internally the Prestige's tank bulkheads were either removed or cut free and moved along to form the new holds and the hatches and derricks replaced all the normal deck attire of the tanker. It was good to see a form of rebirth amid all the destruction. |
