Hi Ted,
only two little coastaltankers owned by them today. The rest of the fleet are bulkers bigger than 32.000ts and a lot of feedervessels and containerships. Most of the other captain-owned companies, which had two or three coasters were broken down in the 1980-90'ies.

Hi Arne
The old Bruegge was also part of the owners of Vega Reederei. The Arend was most probably on paper chartered. I started as MOSES in
75 on the Torsten, then the Edith Sabban (Sabban was/is also part owner of Vega) and later as "Steuermann" on the Marianne (a real sister of the Torsten) and the Arend.
After that I left the company. They are now also pretty big and have 30-50.000 tonnes bulkers.

Hi Ted,
I know the old TORSTEN from Friedrich Daubers Vega-Reederei. Think she was a sister of AREND which was chartered by VEGA, too. Owner of AREND was Arend Brügge.

I'm a fan of these old coasters, too. So I had arranged a thread in a german forum, which called 'Weselmänner und andere alte Kümos'. Just have a look at it! You're welcome.
