| Thank you polyrus for posting such wonderful material. Indeed OM1/OM2 were top-of-the-line SLRs at the time, and handy-sized too. |

Dear Chris,
I am currently going through my old slides and I only have a few more ships, and none anywhere near as good as this of the Australis unfortunately. (plus a couple of Timaru port from the air, but the ships on them appear too small to submit on this site). |

Dear Neil
Hope to see some more of these and I had an Olympus in 80's, the OM2 was a very good camera then, the lens as good or superior tot he Nikons and Canons of the day. |

She was an older "version" of the UNITED STATES but not in final and overall so well like her successor; but this small remark should be only considered as to her year of built ( original AMERICA 1939/ UNITED STATES 1953).
A wonderful photo of a great passenger liner and utmost beautiful colors on this pic. Thanks for sharing,Polyrus. |

Thank you Chris & Clive for the positive comments. The conditions played a major part and so did good old Kodachrome which produced good crisp colours as I was able to go down to an f16 on my then new Olympus OM2.

| Excellent photo and largest ship to berth at Timaru up to that time. |

| Over the years I have seen many photos of Australis but I think that I can honestly say that this is the very best of them all. All down to a perfect subject in perfect lighting. |
