Description:

The 1963 Haugesund built bulk carrier TONTO had operated on charter to Saguenay Terminals between 1964 and 1979

Here she is seen in Canadian waters in September 1971, presumably taken from a passing ship. Can anyone identify the location please?

She was renamed GUNGNIR V in 1979, RAFAELA in 1982 and INCO 91 in 1988 before being beached at Alang in December 1989 to be broken up.

Hi Malcolm,
Probably between Québec city and Gaspé in the St-Laurent River. Just to see the low montain in the background. This ship also came here at Port-Alfred harbour on the Saguenay river during many years. Michel

Hi Malcolm

Great shot - saw her as Rafaela operating for MSC. Not sure she was ever converted to a container carrier, i.e. fixed guides.
