ALHD Canberra is the name given by Navantia and BAE Systems during construction and launching. HMAS CANBERRA will be the official name when commissioned and this will be during 2013. Anyway if administrators consider other terminology to unify criteria in the site.

Yes,you are right, she wil be presumably HMAS CAMBERRA but anyway naming her ALHD ,I think create confusion in the site
Best regards

Hi Victor Radio74

The vessel is not even built yet...she will not be HMAS until she is commissioned, which may be 1 or 2 years away.

Why was she towed stern first, her flat stern offered greater opposition to the sea then her bows?

Seen all the recent aircraft carriers of this size it's safe to fully judge them even at this stage.

How can anyone comment on 'ugliness' when the poor ship isn't even completed. I'm sure with superstructure, radar, funnel etc she will be like most others of her type when complete and a pride of the Aussie Navy

Uglier than all those floating McDonaldses / modern mega cruise ships.
