I do not completely agree with the down below comment.
The last era of the very fine merchantmen/12 passenger ships then, where the years late 60s, 70s and 80s. In the late 60s there was a number of new extremely good looking general cargo ships built ( I heard once from behind me by a young woman, 'this one looks so good as a yacht'). |

| Mr.DOT, I agree. It would be expensive to replicate the curves on these older ships in modern shipyards - who prefer flat plates and straight supporting members rather than curved wherever possible! |
