Chris Howell on Sep 04, 2012 06:17 (8 months ago)
You are right Daniel

She is one of large class of cargo liners, built from 1955 by Messageries Maritimes, the Godavery class.

Her sisters were Moonie, Le Natal, Sindh, Tigre, Yarra, Koung-Si, Yalou, Si Kiang and Yang-Tse, most are on the site under various names.

The class was further developed into the M and V class, some of the V's ending up as part containerships.

This is, if memory serves me well, one of several cargo liners of Compagnie des Messageries Maritimes from France.
Will some shipspotter from France step forward and comment?
Italie Lloyd Triestino had almost the same design, extremely beautiful cargo liners such as: Palatino.

WOW, what a good photo!
Another one of the series of beautiful sisters we had lately seen on this site.
Wonderful bow, proud standing bipod cargo masts, absolutely nice bridge and accomodation block; beautiful streamlined classic funnel.
