you're completely right - the preserved ship would be even more attractive with proper lighting "on top"!
But anyway, let's hope that 'Lightship Ten' (or whatever it will be named) will survive at all.

Stefan, wouldn't it be nice, some additional effect like that (still, she is a lightship!); "cream" above the hopefully one day a well preserved and exquisite veteran.

It's in my eyes actually secondary if there is someone to refit a lighting device, or not, as long as someone preserves the ship as such.

I truly wish that one day, somebody will install a lighting device into the reflector housing (let's say, a light that would be obviously less strong) and start it rotating.

It was built as a lightship in 1877, it is still a lightship, whether operative or not.
It is not "only serving for good looks" it is the essential part of the vessel.

The center mast with the platform & housing for the light reflector is only serving for good looks, unfortunately.
There is not even a small light bulb inside the reflector housing!
