23-24/11/2013 went ashore off Panwa Beach, Phuket, Thailand (had been assisting visiting US Navy vessels towing pontoons etc and with fifi cover)
http://www.marinerthai.net/forum/index.php?topic=2072.0

By then Leonard Glenn Francis, the Malaysian owner of GDMA had been arrested in the USA in one of the biggest corruption cases involving the US Navy. The "Fat Leonard" investigation revealed that port call charges for the US fleet had been overcharged by over US$20 million, with dozens of USN personnel receiving payoffs for passing information, influencing fleet movements and interfering with investigations. Prosecutions are still ongoing.
See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Leonard_scandal

So far not found what happened to GLENN FREEDOM - whether she was a wreck at Phuket or later salved - or their other still-listed ships, tug GLENN AMERICA (IMO 7825198), GLENN CALIFORNIA (IMO 7407128), GLENN COLUMBUS (IMO 7401291), GLENN ENTERPRISE (IMO 8604424), GLENN LIBERTY IMO 7706407) and no doubt many others - the company seems to have been closed down in 2014.

Hi, Phil, Thanks for the link. I would take issue with the word 'swift' as applied to the ship, however. Flat out, downhill with a following spring tide would give you about 8 kts. Regards, Neil

Yes Rick, very modest. Scuh a strange business combination. You can imagine them turning up to bunker ships with a crew wielding automatic weapons!

Hi Phil, thanks for the link, & now it is clearer as to what line of business they are in.
Just love their homepage's 'modesty' statement:-
"Renowned for our legendary, stellar, impeccable and sterling customer service" !
Although they have an impressive list of clients & achievements, I can't find any testimonials to back that statement up!
By the way Neil, those newbuild gas or oil tanks in the background are humongous.
Regards, Rick

Here you go, it's all here: http://www.glenndefensemarine.com/portal/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=1
Glenn at one time owned the former RFA Sir Lancelot which was renamed Glenn Braveheart. Scrapped now though.

Cheers
Phil

Hi, Rick,
It's changed a bit since I had command of her in 97 when she was GMMOS Energy. It may be a private security firm but don't hold me to that. Regards, Neil

A brutish looking vessel in that monotone, Neil.
Why battleship grey all over? Maybe the clue is in the owner's moniker: "Glenn Defense Marine Asia".
I wonder what that's all about?
