Grant8064,, only hypothetically, nothing to do with this case!
"Some people would sometimes risk to ship, instead, only plain rocks & then declare 'total loss' for the insurers".

Is it just me or does it seem rather odd to charter a ship almost 40 years old and in a superficially less than perfect state to carry a cargo of 700 tons of gold ore? Surely given the value of cargo there would be enough funds to ship it in something more reliable/modern?

Igor, congrat to you for bravely standing-up for AMURSKAYA.
Now we are sure which one is the ill-fated ship, thank you!

In the area Shantar islands, Sea of Okhotsk with 700 tonnes of gold ore disappeared exactly this ship - "Amurskaya".

Bjorn, thank you!
I read your suggested article, but their is a big confusion when you read the text:

"Russian media reported disappearance of the m/v Amurskoye in Okhotsk sea"

"There is also a discrepancy in the name of the vessel, there is a general cargo vessel Amurskaya and a fishing vessel Amurskoye, media refer to Amurskoye, but they’re mistaken"

"General cargo vessel Amurskaya IMO 7313614, dwt 611, built 1973, flag Russia. F/v Amurskoye IMO 9075840, displacement 2829 tons, built 1992, flag Russia".

So, now, who could tell and really stand for, not to say guarantee: did maybe disappear?? the general cargo vessel AMURSKAYA or maybe disappeared?? the fishing vessel AMURSKOJE??

In Russian internet sourses AMURSKAYA is mentioned as the ship missing together with 9 crewmembers and cargo

Is there any difference between AMURSKAYA & AMURSKOJE that is reported to be disappeared?
Is that the same ship concerned?

Judging by her name seems to be the ship which was reported lost yesterday in the Okhotsk sea with the cargo of gold ore
