Description:
The NRP SAGRES moored at the Jardim do Tabaco docks in Lisbon. "SAGRES" has been the school ship of the Portuguese Navy for 75 years, a date celebrated by the Navy last 30th Oct.. At the same time, this paarticular vessel, built in Germany in 1937, celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Portuguese flag, having being purchased from Brazil in 1962 to replace an earlier schooner, meantime dismantled. As part of rhese celebrations, the "SAGRES", an operational military ship for all purposes, was open to public visit downtown Lisbon.
