It's not the limitation of the camera, but the limits of some human eyes! mrdot.

I completely agree with Emmanuel's way of explanation ... I say, a photo & photo composition such as it is on this very photo of MATAI is my 'top taste' & I would honestly even like to see a lot of similarities on this site now-on, hopefully!.

It is not a question of "leeway". An admin who deleted a photo like like this (and maybe yours, Emmanuel) would not be following the site rules. As well as SS6, SS5 is relevant: "Foreground obstructions must not restrict the view of the ship". If you believe your photos have been wrongly deleted, resubmit and inform the Webmaster by PM - in my experience, you will be treated fairly.

Gordy, I agree wholeheartly that the foreground enhances the photo, it doesnt distract from the main subject. Everyone can press the button and shoot a picture, but the difference between a run of the mill photo and a composed one is either the foreground and/or the background , though the subject i.e. the ship must occupy a prominent part.
Some pictures I submitted taken with tree branches framed in the corners of the picture were deleted. I am not saying that pictures such as can be seen in other sites with just a miniscule image of the vessel in the photo to be accepted, though in their own rights these pics taken as a sea/harbour view are great, but this here is a shipspotting site ,but there must be more lee way by the Administration.

I agree with Mr Dot and jadran about the excellent quality of the shot. It certainly complies with Site Standard 6 "The ship must be the main subject. Distant views and shots where the ship is a small part of the image may be considered for deletion. Members should understand the limitations of their camera."

Thanks Gordy, again, for sharing your collection and research, and for your restoration skills.

Now we see the ROWING BOAT in the very foreground instead of a GIRL & BOY captured in a recent seen photo of this ship ... the ship which is 'to be remembered for her beauty'.

Gordy,
The photographer who shot the photos of MATAI made really masterpiece photos.
He especially taken care for the foreground image on every his photo ... always a great-great composition & impression of his photos!
