Can agree with you capt.Ted. Not always comfortable, but no need to be afraid for capsaizing! Could go in your bunker safely. Well, if you'r not swepped out haha.

Hi henk
I started sailing 75 on the MV "Torsten" a Sietas ship. she was in bad weather loaded a good ship, but in ballast they are terrible ships. rolling with stern-quarters seas easily 30 degrees, not so comfortable I can assure you, but they were and are very well constructed most probably the reason why they still around, you will not see such old boxships with nowadays construction technics in 20 years or so

In my opinion she is more seaworthy as most of todays "Shoeboxes" are!

I really admire those old coasters. Unlike cruise ships or ferries they never had their fanatics. They are, more or less, the invisible heroes of an era. I also admire more their owners. I guess the majority of them belong to small family businesses, and I believe it’s hard to run a company as such these days. When I see ‘Saturn’, ‘Vest’ or ‘Kapetan Christos’ on Shipspotting I feel very touched. Those which remained at the European North, however, are probably the luckiest ones. I hope they will keep operating for a long time, offering unforgettable journeys to their crew members and bringing profits to their owners.
