Description:

Cheynes II moored at King's Pier Hobart. The Cheynes II was purchased by the Maritime Museum of Tasmania in 1979 to be developed into a museum ship. The vessel was sold in 1982 to western Australian interests. Vessel took part in a private expedition to Antartica in 1984 running out of fuel on the return voyage. Laid up in Albany until broke its moorings in 1992 & grounded on a sandbank. Vessel remains in a derelict condition aground.
