Yeah guys everything is about money ... but the big issue is that the money is there! It is just up to the owners of the shipbreaking yards to pay less for the vessels and invest that money in the very basic safety gear for their workforce, cranes for lifting etc. We practice green recycling in Belgium and prove every day that, even up to European standards, shiprecycling can be viable and safe for the people and the environment.

Mr. Dot, They do Obey safety regulation but accident do happened no matter how cautious you are, these sort of Job can't be handle with in frame of Rules just because worker don't like proper uniform, they are more comfortable in their own code of dress.... lots of thing to be discussed but what to do .... ? I do feel pity for these workers as they gave their Heart & Soul just to demolished the Vessel. Its a very very tough job to do ..... somebody has to realize their pain ....

MrDot,,safety rules and gear cost money,,and therefore in those countries not really enforced,,if they would, B/U in other countries are more viable to do,,,comes in the end all down where it can be done cheapest and the lowest "hampering" by regualtions
