Western Isles Ferries' SOUND OF GIGHA leaving Port Askaig on Islay,in the Western Isles of Scotland, for the Isle of Jura,in August 1988. A day after I took this photograph I travelled on the ferry and on the return journey across the Sound of Islay, the skipper had to go half a mile past Port Askaig due to the strength of the tide race.
