If I were the Insurance company assesor I would cancel the insurance of both the ship and the harbour. This is taking an unnecessary risk. Neither the Harbourmaster nor the ships Master should have contemplated sailing in such conditions.

I used to enjoy fresh weather when I was working at sea, presumably much like the person on the starboard bridge wing and the figure one deck down, also on the starboard side, but not seen on the other photo.

Passing the bar at Figueira da Foz is often really rough.
