She must have looked much more bedraggled has she struggled into Malta in those terrible wartime years! mrdot.

I am glad Dave Howe recognised that she was indeed one of the Pedestal Convoy and made it into Malta even though she had been torpedoed in the fore part. A master I sailed with here in New Zealand was a Navigating Apprentice aboard her at the time and so I have a special spot for this vessel. This photo is a beaut of her at full chat and possibly the best angle for her. She certainly had a long life. Thanks for posting it

There's no modern day ships that can beat the way these old girls looked, they are beautiful as ships go, good one

The 5 ships of Malta Convoy "Operation Pedestal" that arrived fully laden at Malta’s Grand Harbour were Rochester Castle, Melbourne Star and Port Chalmers on 13th August 1942, and the Brisbane Star arrived on the 14th August and finally the tanker Ohio on the 15th August 1942

Bobjak, despite your comments, it is barely a whisker short of being a masterpeice.
The epitome of a British Merchant vessel of the era.
Simply, a stunning image.

This is the only other usable print i have of my uncles collection of ships he took when he was in south africa ,he is almost sure this slide was taken in 1957,i was forced to crop it more than i would have liked and it did suffer a wee bit damage, since printing these two images my wife has,had them framed for our dining room ,regards tom duncan
