I remember sometimes in 76 or 78 when the bulbous bow became more and more mentioned and also used, I asked one of our teachers, If the ball form is the best to go through the water or for that matter also through air, why then not design the whole under water section as one ball !!!! I got some good laughs out of that comment !!!!!
