Jürgen, I agree with you, I have seen the ship at Hamburg and Helsinki and I have back then promised myself to once do a cruise onboard it, but it never happened, instead I somehow started to use ferries and containerfeeders for that reason, also modern cruiseships are not reallyl tempting to me.

Hi Gena,
3 month of my life as 18 year old mecanic apprentice I spent on her while under construction at Deutsche Werft in Hamburg. We drilled dozens of big foundation bolt holes on the stb. gear box and made leakage trays on the boiler front below the burners. At that time she had been baptized "Hamburg" but for some reason I remember her more as "Maxim Gorki". Have seen her in many a ports around the world like, Lisbon, Palma de Mallorca, Santos, Canary Islands etc. She was a real beauty!
