Hi Anne, many times it is because there is not enough work for them and other times it may be because they are too expensive to run and it is too expensive to upgrade them to modern requirements.

Best Regards
Bendt

I saw this vessel mooring many times at the Scandiaterminal in Amsterdam harbour. Through the last years it sailed mostly the Northsea with varying types of cargo. Sad to see it scrapped now. Does anyone know the real reason for this? I suppose that because of the relatively old age the cost of ownership was getting too high.

Hi John and Steffen, she was neat of its 37 years but it can be hard to live up to modern requirements.

Many thanks to both of you for your nice comments.

Sad to see that this one is going Bendt, she was a regular visitor here on the Thames loading bagged sugar from Tate & Lyle's. She had quite a long life though by today's standards. Great to see some pictures of her from inside, thanks.
Best Regards
