Description:

RAF air sea rescue launch 4003 HMAFV HALIFAX, heads down the River Yare for the open sea. Great Yarmouth circa 1986.Built by James and Stone at Brightlingsea in 1977, she was also used for target towing, which the yellow apparatus lashed to the deck were used for.This branch of the services was disbanded in 1986.

Recognise the two yellow splash targets lashed to the side of the deck house. They produce a nice plume of water for aircraft to drop bombs on and straif. Towed well astern of the vessel though :-D

Nice shot taken the year the Marine Craft branch disbanded. This is HMAFV Halifax built by James and Stone of Brightlingsea in 1977. Used for target towing and aircrew rescue training.
48 tonnes max 22knots with a max range of 1000 miles.
