Great photo Bob. Never got to see any ships in Norwich myself but Everards still had ships trading there in the 1980s when I worked for them, plus Bowker & King had coastal tankers going to Oulton Broad.

Wow, never thought a dodgy photo like this would generate so much interest. I should have a few more actually taken in Norwich somewhere if I can find them. Only vessel up there now (or was a couple of years ago) is an old patrol boat (German I think) that was used by a local group.

Yes Norwich was once a busy coaster port.
I have seen coasters there myself in the early 70's.

Good heavens, did they get all the way up to Norwich? It must be 40 kms up a winding river, surely too far to get on one tide. So did they take the ground and wait for the next one? What was the largest ship to trade up to Norwich?
