Description:

This another photograph from my late father in law's collection and shows H36 HMS ANTELOPE. An A Class destroyer she was built by Hawthorne and Leslie and launched on July 27th,1929. She had a compliment of 138, grossed 1,350 tons and had a max.speed of 35knots. She was armed with 4x4.7"guns, 8x50cal.machine guns and 8xtorpedo tubes. In Feb 1940 she sank U-41 in the SW approaches and in Oct.1940 sank U-31 off NW Ireland rescuing 43 survivors. She helped search for survivors from HMS Hood and was a member of the convoy Pedestal to Malta in Aug 1942. She was broken up in 1946.
