@ Phil...I think these ships had a "Z" shaft arrangement.
In order to shorten the main engine and Gearbox..I think they mounted the enging relatively high in the hull. And mounted the prop shaft underneath..The whole arrangement made a sort of Z shape..If you can picture it. I can't really describe it.

Not a Chinese copycat at all. One of a series of 10 ships designed and built for Norasia Line - 5 contracted with HDW, Germany and 5 contracted with Jiangnan Shipyard, China. Designated "Samantha-2", they were designed to be very fast with high engine power and special hull form. However, they were dogged with problems from the off and Norasia soon got rid of them. Their high speed and fuel consumption coupled with low-TEU intake meant that they never realised their full potential and two have already been scrapped despite being only 12-13 years old.

Nice photo, Tino.
I've seen this lady several times in 2010-11 when she was a regular visitor to Helsingborg.

I already saw this VERY SIMILAR design way back in 1996, it was owned by a German container operator, 4 ships has been built that time....I saw it first in Tradewinds magazine, then saw another one in real when we are sailing towards Singapore in Malacca Straits, surely this one is another Chinese copycat......I have seen many ships before and saw their photos here, I thought it was already old but I realized it was only resurrected from Chinese yards..

This is the one I'm referring to: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1761159

Hi Augustin, it is the first time i see that kind of container ship; first time ever. The bow looks to me a bit like the one of a very big submarine. Thanks a lot to share.
