She was a passenger/cargo vessel built at Dundee as the "Andorinha" in 1891 for Andorinha S.S.Co Ltd (Yeoward Bros), Liverpool. She sailed in their Liverpool - Madeira - Canary Island service.

In 1929 she was renamed "Champerico" following sale to the Pacific Steam Nav. Co., and in 1936 "Vina del Mar" for Torres & Ward,of Valparaiso.

She was wrecked there in 1963 - One of our crewmembers on our cruise with the MS Nordnorge back in 2005 told me, that the ship was "put" ashore from a tsunami-wave. Happend during a eruption of one of the near vulcanoes. Don't know if that is the case...
