As Phil says it is quite common with MSC and I have noted that it is quite common with the Great Lakes fleets - allows them to continue "legendary" names into the present.

Nothing unusual at all. This MSC Sena is now scrapped and the 'new' MSC Sena simply keeps up MSC's tradition of recycling their ship names
