NAJADEN moored below the Frigate JYLLAND in Ebeltoft harbour
they celebrate together the Danish Navy's national anniversary as it is 9 May.
The date was chosen because it is the anniversary of the Battle of Helgoland in 1864, the frigate JYLLAND along with the frigate Niels Juel and corvette Heimdal in a two-hour battle defeated an Austrian-Prussian squadron of five warships.
Battle of Helgoland is the latest regular naval battle, the Danish navy has been involved in. The anniversary is marked at the same time in Kristiansand in Norway, which the Danish ships were in harbour after the battle, and when they killed 13 sailors from the frigate Jyllands crew are buried.
The frigate JYLLAND was built in 1860 and is now a museum ship, it is with the help of A.P. MØLLER Foundation managed to get the ship right up to date as it was when it was built.
