Description:
After a bit of digging, I was able to find out some information about this small vessel pulled on the beach for repairs and winter storage in Barentsburg, Svalbard. Piramida is the sole "Project 125" self-propelled steel barge built at Shiprepair Yard № 176 in Arkhangelsk, Russia, in 2010. Her main dimensions are 18.9 m x 3.85 m x 0.9 m, and the 110 kW main engines and ducted 3-blade propellers give the vessel a speed of about 7 knots. She is owned by FSUE Arktikugol (Trust Arktikugol), a state-owned mining company that owns the coal mining settlement of Barentsburg.
I first thought the vessel was abandoned on the beach, but when I walked around it, I noticed some tools around the propellers and rudders. In addition, the vessel is resting on wooden logs, meaning that she was pulled ashore on purpose. Finally, after knocking at the hull, a Russian man came out...
