They tried something similar in the early 80's with a few tankers, but it didn't catch on as the crews and Pilots preferred full width bridge wings.

Csaba: I don't think there is anything in those columns, apart from staircases perhaps. The bridge wings are not full size, because the ship was equipped with a camera system instead. I don't think it ever caught on with other tankers.

Could somebody tell me what is, if anything, in those two vertical towers that support the bridge?
Also, it appears that the wings are not as long as the ship is wide. Is it just me or is there a reason for that.
