Not all Cunard liners and cruise ships have had black hulls. In the early 1930s Mauretania was painted white when she was used more in a cruising role. In 1966 the Sylvania was also painted white to give her a more 'cruise-like' appearance. Caronia was painted in four shades of pale green and the second Mauretania was given this same livery in the early-mid 1960s. Likewise, the former Saxonia and Ivernia were given this livery as part of an extensive refit to make them into cruise ships and at the time they were renamed Carmania and Franconia. Later, they were also re-painted white. Later on the purpose-built Cunard cruise ships Cunard Ambassador and Cunard Adventurer entered service painted all white.......
