Description:

Van Uden's LEKHAVEN, built at Alblasserdam in 1952, is seen as CAPTAIN JOHN TSAVIRIS berthed at Birkenhead.

She was owned by Seamaster Shipping Inc. (John Tsavaris), a New York based Greek, who had traded her for ten years from 1969

Although it is not clear where the voyage started, CAPTAIN JOHN TSAVIRIS arrived in the Mersey on 5th April 1974 from Freetown via Dakar, suffering damage en route, staying in port in Birkenhead until sailing for Avonmouth on 1st May, from there on 15th May for Bordeaux, where she spent another 10 days, then proceeding to Hamburg where she arrived on 1st June, trading worldwide thereafter for another five years.

She was sold in 1979 to Fernave Corporation of Tampa, Florida, and as CHRISTINA B. sailed from Abidjan on 11th November 1979, again suffering problems, eventually arriving in Colon anchorage prior to 1st April 1980 and at Belize City on 22nd May 1980 where her Panama registry was cancelled, she was abandoned and then moored at Robinson Point prior to 30th October 1981. Reportedly sold to Taiwan breakers, she eventually arrived at Brownsville, Texas on 17.7.84 to be broken up.
