Built in 1972 by Scheepswerven v/h H.H. Bodewes, Millingen (Yardnr. 701)
L x B x D = 43,85 x 10,65 x 5,06 m. 495 brt. 2 pitchable screws in nozzle. Bow thruster.
2 x 4tew 9 cylinder diesel engines by Allen-Bedford (type 9S37-E). 6000 ihp.

Surprising that they bare using her for ship assist. It doesn't look like she was designed for this role. I guess they make do with what they have on hand.
Nice photo Ted, I can see an ex British River (arum) class minesweeper through the smoke too.

Could be also the turbo charger brings not in enough air to burn the fuel available/injected which results in black smoke,, I had that one T-charger down,,was smoking like hell and hard to adjust down and a lot power loss

I wonder when the injectors were last serviced, looks like they might dribble a bit at the moment

The smoke is the product of unburnt fuel, this can be caused by over loading of the engines or static calibrations being set too high. In both cases I feel the
Chief Engineer would be concerned. Fern eng. [Fernley.]
