The containers are one piece of a multi-pronged plan to address public health concerns to the people around the area. Maybe the government should have solution for this type of business occurred.

Hi Jadran, I took a special interest because they are Dutch-built/designed ships. :-)

Hi rd77,, I am very much surprised that you are the only one who noticed MSC ADA on this picture.
MSC ADA has indeed become today a special kind & distinctive *oldie* type of containership.
I have also posted on 12 July 2013 a series of 4 photos of MSC ADA in her best view,, but also for that case nobody commented this rare kind of containership that is being still in regular service today !

Thank you very much rd77 for your comprehensive information & comment.
With very best regards /Jadran

That's the MSC ADA (IMO9031064), one of two hatchcoverless containerships built in the Netherlands in the early 90s. She was built as the EUROPEAN EXPRESS at Verolme Heusden in 1993, for Rederij Vroon. Her older sister (1992) was the ATLANTIC LADY, sadly scrapped at Chittagoing last year as the VESTFOLD. They could well be the largest ships ever built at Heusden. The Heusden yard is now pretty much dormant. Perhaps they will build some sections for the massive new order that IHC Merwede announced last week (six pipe layers for operations in Brazil).

The hatchcoverless containerships were very much pioneered by the Dutch, but they never really caught on. I reckon about 10 such vessels were built, in various dimensions, and as far as I know they are all still sailing, except for the former ATLANTIC LADY of course.
