Description:
Cecilie Mærsk at outfitting quay at Kockum Shipyard, ready for trial trip november 1967.
Cecilie Mærsk was the first of a serie of 7, and eas the last conventionel freighter build by A.P.Møller. It was a semecontainer, which means that it could have container in three layer on deck and general cargo in the hold.
I myself was assistant engineer onboard. We had some accident with the ship, during the first nine month. On the maiden voyage we got a crack in the bottom and had to drydock for nearly two weeks at Davies Shipbuilding in Lauzon on St.Lawrence.
Later on we had a lot of trouble with the main engine a B&W 984-VT2BF-180.
In august 1968, we had a collision with a Filipino ship Don Hernan II, in Nagoya Bay in Japan, We got a big hole in port side, with damage on the accommodation and the engine control room. That cost us two weeks in dock in Yokohama.
