Vlaardingen 12-7-'13

This wreck was towed into Vlaardinge on July 9th 2013 by the "Multratug 20".
The Dutch authorities have decided to clear various wrecks which are hazardous to navigation. This is one of them.
In 1985, she sank after a collision with the Philippine flagged m/s “Arabian Express” in position 51°53”N en 02°35”E, without casualties.
The crew managed to get into the liferaft and was picked up by the Norwegian tanker "Salstraum".

They clear it because of big boxer and other deep drafters having problems to reach Antwerp and they a are a danger to navigation, Not because suddenly they discovered the goodness of recycling !!! Pure selfinterest,,nothing else. Those wrecks would be there forever if not needed to be moved out of the way for commercial reasons!!!

Thanks for the history Frans, it's good to see the Dutch are cleaning the seabed and yes there is money in scrap so guessing no loss of money involved. Recycling at its best !
