Description:

One of the most famous preserved ships in the world, the Russian cruiser AURORA. Seen here on the Niva on a bitterly cold March day in 2002.We went aboard her and I can highly recommend the experience. She is in fabulous condition and we were shown around by an ex Russian naval officer whose tales were worth the trip alone.

She's as well "preserved" as she is more mockup then real ship. In 1980thies she was completly rebuild and only some parts belonging to real Aurora.

Sorry Adawo,I'm afraid you don't understand the meaning of preservation. As long as the identity of whatever is being preserved is maintained for future generations to experience, then there is nothing wrong with replacing corroded steel etc.If this was not done with Aurora we would not be able to see her in all her splendour.

I agree, but todays Aurora it's not a "real" Aurora. As far as I known, Russians not preserved the "old", "real" cruiser, but bulid something like mokeup, without any historical value. It's just only a memomrial of Great Revolutnion, not a historical ship, like Belfast, Victory, Blyskawica, american battleships etc.
Mayby any "specialist" can say more...
