In a way today the internet does make up for this, Robert, you're right. But what a difference there is between looking at someone else's photo and having taken the photo by yourself! As Craig said: all those wonderful ships and lost opportunities...
(Though usually I'm not a person dwelling on the past for too long, but now and then I have those certain moments):-)

Share that feeling. Growing up near the Rotterdam port area I never enough had money to buy all the films needed to take pictures of the numerous vessels. Fortunately the internet is making up nowadays for this shortfall...

If only I had been as interested in taking ship photos as a teenager as I'm now as a grown-up... But I never had a camera with me back then when on a harbor boat trip at Hamburg. - Great shot, Frafo!
