Description:
Trever Jones owned slide with copyright
arriving at Durban stern first for temporary repairs at Rotterdam after being hit by an estimated 70 ft wave 74 miles of Durban on the 3rd of May 1973. She then departed for permanent repairs at Rotterdam.
She was very fortunate not to share the fate of the Waratah and World Glory previously overwhelmed and sunk by seas in this area.

Just think it worthwhile to mention the following:-
--she arrived at the outer anchorage drawing abt 56 feet forward and lightening the ship reduced that to about 45 feet--the port was then a 40 foot max entrance draft.
the port captain was persuaded to allow the vessel to enter backwards on the high tide which is when this photo was taken.
note that the forward section of no 1 hatch macgregor slab is wrapped around the base of the foremast and very close inspection of the foremast shows a piece of metal sticking out at right angles about half way up the mast--memory suggests that is the mast ladder ripped off its weldings as high as half way up,which suggests she went in green at least to that point up the mast !!!!
