TYNEHAVEN Correct LR/IMO number is 5067900, certainly not an imaginative 1180371

Close to where she was built as Empire Fairway by Goole Shipbuilders in 1944. Named Tynehaven whilst owned by Whitehaven Shipping from 1956 - 1959. Then crossed the pond to spend a few years in Quebec, before joining the Honduras flag, last heard of in 1978. One of some 20 dry cargo and tanker versions built at Goole. The dry cargo ones mostly spent the 50's around the English coast, Everards had 5 or 6, but the tankers (Chant) quickly disappeared. Regular callers at Kingsbridge in the stone trade to Ridham Dock, until one got beneaped and spent a couple of unproductive weeks waiting for the next springs. That was the end of commercial shipping at Kingsbridge, the loading gantries have long since been knocked down and replaced by expensive flats.
