A Floating Babylon should be the term now for them. "Cruise ship" is obsolete now & is very confusing, especially for lovers of cruise ships/liners in their golden era.

Well it might be ugly as ain, but it does have all the bells and whistles that modern cruise patrons would wish, and few of them would care about it's appearance! mrdot.

What's a cruise liner without any public sun decks aft?

Just back from a cruise on the Island Escaped it's not one of the prettiest of the older ships, and is showing it's age in many places. We still had a lovely time, but next time we will be on one of the newer liners, count on it

BTW, cracking photo Jörn!

Hardly anyone would choose to cruise on a relic of yesterday. Apart from a few niche operators, anyone trying to build a fleet of old-fashioned ships would soon go out of business. So in that rspect it is about money

I miss the old classic cruise ships of yesterday. why they cant built elegant cruise ships like in the 50s or 60s?

It's a Ropes Course with high views of the passing ocean. My friends just came off the BREAKAWAY and said it was fantastic! (Same deck features.)

It is either a prison or a torture chamber.

I'm not surprised that among all phobias listed there's a "fear of cruise ships"...

So turns out that structure behind the funnel is not a roller coaster (which is sad) but what is it then?
And looks like on a ship this large they didn't find a better place for the small radar other than outside the stern just above the mooring deck. :D
Superb series of pics, Jörn! Keep them coming!

Regards,
Denis
