Built at Evans Deakin, Brisbane, in 1966
This is a pic of the Accolade (1) laid up waiting for a buyer in the early 80's. She never got
a buyer and was taken round the mudflats at Torrens Island and over a period of time cut up.
I Joined the Accolade one when she arrived from Brisbane in 1966 and was to join her a total
of 4 times during her operational days.
It had twin Caterpillar engines and in the early days before they quietened it down with
lagging and mufflers (I was on deck lol ) it was so noisy underway we always had the TV full
blast. Lucky we were only at sea 5 hours a time lol
I did a trip to the dry dock in Melbourne on her and it was so noisy 2 days at sea we were all
extremely glad to get ashore either end lol
