Prime dude, thanks for sharing pre demo pixs, but please state the facts that tankers come to gadani because of gadani having laxed rules for gas free entry requirements for hot works and man entry, unlike other places like alang and chittagong. Shipowners just want the most bucks out of their desolated vessels so to dodge these extra costs they dump their tankers at gadani. as for pristine beaches etc, i am sure you are not naive to think this is the case, do read about many UN reports on what pollution harm has happened to both the beaches and folks who work there, not to mention what was highlighted in a recent discussion held on shipbreaking conference in Islamabad, anyhow thanks for sharing the pixs

As far as Polluting the Sea as you comment ....
What you think Gadani Breakers done Magic to clean the so called Toxicated object of ship ... and the result you've see in the Picture ... I don't think so .....

Magne ... I bet you should come to Gadani ... rather than making useless comments .. whatever you see on Net is of Chittagong and India .... That sort of situation not in Gadani ... otherwise Huge Tanker wouldn't come to shore .... I suggest you should Think Positively ..

This kind of ship braking should been probithed by IMO. Vessels should been dismantled at sites where the removed parts was taken directly to spill leacage free areas and the remains of underwater hull shuld be dismantled on land ie dry dock.

"You can see the Smashing Clear Water.... Indicating that Gadani Breakers maintaining the Environmental Value and follow the Code of Conduct for Breaking....." Ha Ha Ha the clear water do not indicate more than a light current in the water. The beach mud is heavy toxicated from years of dismanteling of iron containing trace of several liquid and dust ie asbestos and all kinds of paint/coatings.

I bet any ship's last wish would be to be scrapped on a beach that clean! Looks like pleasure land.

Primedude, it is a magnificent picture by the way. Clear water, sunshine and a nice little island to finish the composition off, well done!

Tomi, the VLCC market has been bad for years now. I am not sure if this vessel was single-hulled or an early double hull, but it doesn't matter either way. Early double hulls are also going for scrap now.

Excellent photo. It is a bit sad though to see the vessel beach under her own power - the last act of "free will" of a convict approaching the executioner...
