Hi Ally

Sad to see a Trawler beached like that and one that was shortly to ends its life cut up on the beach!

I have moved the photograph into the Wrecks Category as it is better suited there.

Regards

Steve Ellwood

See in the Herald that they're insisting that she's cut up and taken away before the summer. They're afraid that the kids will get onboard her at low tide and get trapped inside.

Since she went ashore she's definately moved a bit and she's lying further over to port than she was.

Thats a Lewis built trawler for ya Ally !!!
They're not built as strong as that class was nowadays. Put a "modern" trawler on those rocks for the same period of time with the same weather and 90% of them would be in bits by now. Built them to last back then Ally nae like nowadays lol.

Nowadays a boats designed to last 20 years tops back then they were built to last 30+ years which is why more than half of that class are still fishing to this day. Strong hulls , stable , very economic on fuel ( ok not when at the twin rig but at the pair trawl / pair seine they hardly burn fuel ) so they're still a strong favourite for the white fish boys.
