No problem Allan! Miramar is a quite acceptable source for ship enthusiasts but for serious research certainly not. Best regards Sub

Submariner - my apologies. Hands up - got it wrong.

But the one thing this does highlight is that Miramar should NOT be accepted by this site as 'gospel' The only Leognan on Miramar is the 1921 built vessel, there is no entry for the 1947-built Bruay which became the second Leognan.

If she was built in 1947 she was certainly a very old fashioned vessel for that time. The size of the funnel implies she was a coal burner, not to forget her counter stern which by 1947 was very rare.

Sorry Allan, you are wrong. This LEOGNAN is also Bordeaux registered being owned by Cie.Maritime et Commerciale de Sud-Ouest (manager Robert Colombier). Built at Le Havre in 1947 as BRUAY. Finally she was broken up in 1970 at Split as THEODOROS YIANNAKIS. But the best proof is already on the Shipspotting: LEOGNAN pictured in 1967! http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1055483 Brgds

Sorry submariner, you are wrong. Leognan was built in 1921, which looks more in keeping with this ship. From 1951 until broken up in 1958 she was owned by Soc. Navale Bordelaise and registered in Bordeaux, as in the photo.

1921 / 2,921gt, built as Louis Nail 2 for French Govt.

and NO IMO number
