I am admittedly drawn to thse vessels as well. Maybe its their crazy yellow color!
My dad was chief engineer on GRANDE SAN PAOLO and all thse vessels carry passengers as well for some extra revenue. Therefore, on board the cabins are a little nicer and food too in some cases. One unusual thing about Grimaldi is that they seem to pack their vessels with as many cars as possible...at various times you will see the top deck full of cars too!
Grande San Paolo and her sisters used to carry a lot of luxury cars from europe to Brasil.

Hi Fede. I have a soft spot for these Grimaldi lines vessels - I like the colors for some reason and hope to always see one in New York. Finally after two years one showed up - without titles - probably purchased by another company..and it was a bad weather day and no camera :-( But I keep hoping for the furture.

Hey Tom, Fede

Great shot Fede. I to, like Tom, have a soft spot for these 'ugly ships'. I find them very aesthetically pleasing and far prefer the Grimaldi's over the likes of K Line and NYK. I try to catch these ships as often as possible as they transit to and from Portbury UK on their European travels.

Take care fellas and keep spotting :-)
