@ Jadran: my info on her are just as good as anybody's, as I am just an observer...

@MattyBoy: that's an interesting question. Since she's not a "real ship", the requirements for her dry docking are not rules related, at least I think so. However, it will depend on actual situation whether she will be required to undergo some work that will be only possible in DD. (There are some DDs out there capable of accommodating her, but not so many of them!)

@Emmanuel: I agree...:)

PRELUDE , a very apt name,for she is a prelude of things to come.monsters of the seas.

I was watching the promotional video for this vessel (can be found on Bloomberg.com). It says she'll be moored in position for 25 years, 125 miles off the coast of Oz.
Does this mean she won't ever come back in for dry-docking while she serves out her term ?

Hi Vlad,, I have recently thrown my eye on an article about PRELUDE; read very briefly (just every second word):
PRELUDE ..... the greatest floating object ever built (L=488m, B=impressive!)... LNG storage ... liquefying ............
Do you maybe know some more details/specifications about PRELUDE !?
Thank you & best regards (J)

Almost half a Kilometer long....

Yip you are correct lappino. The shot does not show the true scale of this beast....what a monster.

Yes, 488 meters, but this photograph does not do her justice, for there is no other vessel near for comparison...

But that is definitely one very large beast!
